Factors Affecting the Service Life of Bridge Cranes

Single girder overhead crane is a general purpose crane. Mainly used for fixed-span material handling and equipment maintenance equipment in machinery manufacturing, equipment, yards, warehouses, etc. Single-girder bridge cranes are not suitable for the following situations: environments with risks of explosions and fires; relative humidity greater than 85%, and environments filled with water Places with corrosive gases; enhanced molten metal, toxic substances and flammable and explosive items.

As special equipment, the use and maintenance of bridge cranes are very important. Many customers do not take the maintenance of cranes seriously, especially the issue of crane rust. Rust has a great impact on cranes, and common problems affect the service life of bridge cranes.

What are the reasons?

  • The impact of rust on cranes

First of all, it greatly affects the beauty and external environment of the overhead crane. As a product that must be used in these industries, bridge cranes play a very important role in industry or construction. If there is too much rust, it will naturally affect its basic beauty and external environment, make people feel uncomfortable during use, and make people feel uneasy about its appearance. It will also affect the image of the manufacturer during publicity.

Secondly, excessive rust will affect the function and quality of the bridge machine. A good bridge crane must have good functions and quality. Excessive rust will cause corrosion of some materials and finished products, which will have a negative impact on the operation of the entire bridge crane, especially its service life. In this way, the service life of the entire bridge crane cannot be well guaranteed, and the original use intensity and service life must be reduced to a lower level.

The performance of the bridge crane refers to the comprehensive lifting capacity of the bridge crane, which is determined during planning and production. We generally say that the tonnage of a crane is a summary of the capabilities of an overhead crane. The carrying capacity of bridge cranes changes with changes in usage time (service life), usage environment and usage conditions.

  • Ground durability

The ground is the final carrier of the bridge crane's dead weight and lifting weight. The bearing capacity and flatness of the ground directly affect the safe use of the crane. Overhead cranes have different requirements for above-ground durability. The above-ground durability requirements are determined based on the overhead crane's dead weight, unbalanced weight, and ground area. The above-ground durability changes with the geographical environment. When the durability of the part is insufficient, the bridge machine will naturally sink, and in severe cases, a bridge machine overturning accident will occur; uneven ground will cause the bridge machine to stop working, causing the bridge machine boom to skew and cause lateral deformation, which directly affects the starting point of the bridge machine. Too much talent may even cause a collapse accident.

  • Wind force

Wind has a great impact on overhead cranes. The taller the building, the taller the corresponding overhead crane. Generally, as altitude increases, wind speed also increases. We often have no feelings on the ground, and the flags on the overhead crane are always waving, reflecting the difference between the environment at high altitude and on the ground. The effect of wind causes wind loads to occur on bridge cranes. The wind load caused by the increase in wind speed is also increasing. When the wind load exceeds the planned resistance of the bridge crane, bridge crane damage accidents will occur.

Due to the high risk of lifting operations, the state defines lifting operations as special operations, and operators must obtain corresponding work permits. At the same time, operators must be careful and strictly implement operating procedures in daily operations. Any dangerous operation or negligence may bring huge disaster. Therefore, the training and verification of operators are an important part of the safety management of overhead cranes.
