How to choose the cable for gantry crane?
The cable drum of the gantry crane should be able to automatically wind up the cable, and the driving torque of the cable drum should not be less than the maximum winding torque required when winding the cable. During the cable unwinding process, the traction force acting on the cable conductor should be as small as possible. For cables without reinforced cores, the maximum allowable pulling force acting on the copper conductor cross-section is 20N/mm2. For cables requiring high winding speed or cable self-weight, When it is heavier, a reinforced wire rope core that can withstand the required traction should be added.
The selection of gantry crane cables has the following requirements:
1. When arranging the cables of the gantry crane, ensure that the length of each cable is equal, the pressure plate is securely crimped, and the outer diameter of the cables on the same layer is as close as possible. It is necessary to avoid excessive stress on one or a few cables. Suspension cable trolleys should be equipped with traction wire ropes between each other. During operation, when the distance between two adjacent suspension cable trolleys makes the angle between the suspension cables close to 120°, the traction wire rope should be completely straightened and stressed.
2.When using a cable reel for power supply, the cable should be prevented from being worn during movement. For cables with an outer diameter not greater than 21.5mm, the bottom diameter of the cable reel should be at least 10 times the outer diameter of the cable; for cables with an outer diameter greater than 21.5mm , the bottom diameter of the cable drum should be at least 12.5 times the outer diameter of the cable.
3. When a gantry crane uses a suspended cable trolley (or cable guide trolley), the cable should be prevented from being worn and excessively bent during movement. For cables with an outer diameter of no more than 8mm, the curvature diameter of the cable suspension bending plate should be at least 6.3 times the outer diameter of the cable; for cables with an outer diameter greater than 8mm, it should be at least 8 times the outer diameter; for cables with an outer diameter greater than 12.5mm, it should be at least 10 times the outer diameter; for flat cables, the thickness of the cable is equivalent to the diameter of the round cable.
